Would Sneijder fit in at Manchester United?

The recent reports suggest that Manchester United are very keen on Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder and according to some media the feeling is mutual.

With Red Devils reportedly ready to match Inter's 39 million valuation of the player, the Dutchman appears to be on the verge of making a switch to Manchester United.

The remarkable player that he is, Sneijder is not exactly what Sir Alex Ferguson was looking for as his first wish was to find a suitable replacement for Paul Scholes.

Despite being a very good player, the Dutchman can only give his best when playing just behind the strikers and that position is currently occupied by Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford.

It is more than clear that Fergie would have to change his formation if he signs Sneijder and that could mean that wingers will no longer play an important part in the team.

The only formation that would accommodate both Rooney and Sneijder would be 4-3-1-2 with Sneijder playing just behind Rooney and Chicharito or 4-3-2-1 with Rooney and Sneijder behind the Mexican.

That would, however, mean that there would be no place in the side for wingers, and that may be one of the reasons why Fergie is looking to get rid of Nani.

Antonio Valencia and Ji-Sung Park are capable of playing as right or left midfielders in the formation with three players inn the aforementioned formations and it is these players that could be crucial in the possible switch to new style of play.
