Nemanja Vidic has confirmed his retirement from international duty following Serbia's failure to reach the 2012 European Championship.
The last of Vidic's 56 appearances for his national team came against Slovenia this month, when he missed a penalty in a 1-0 defeat that cost Serbia a place in the playoffs.
The 30-year-old Vidic tells United's website, "I feel, after 10 years of playing for my country, it is the right time for me to stand aside and allow the younger players to come through.''
Inter Milan midfielder Dejan Stankovic also said after the Slovenia defeat that he would no longer be available for Serbia.
